Alan Mulally (United States) – Honorary Member Citation

Alan Mulally became president, chief executive officer, and a member of the Board of Ford Motor Company in 2006 after 37 remarkable years with The Boeing Company. There he served as executive vice president and as president and chief executive officer of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, bringing significant engineering and program management oversight to the 727 through 777 series. His exemplary leadership was recognized by Automotive News, Aviation Week, Business Week, Fortune, and several others. Mulally serves on the President’s Export Council, was co-chairman of the Washington Competitiveness Council, president of AAIA, and joined the advisory boards of AIA, NASA, the University of Kansas, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of Washington, and the U.S. Air Force Scientific Advisory Board. With bachelor’s and master’s degrees in aeronautical and astronautical engineering from the University of Kansas, this visionary systems thinker earned his master’s in management from MIT as a 1982 Sloan Fellow. Mulally is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and a fellow of England’s Royal Academy of Engineering. Therefore, the Omega Alpha Association Board of Directors is delighted and honored to welcome Alan Mulally to Honorary Membership in the International Honor Society for Systems Engineering.
