Current Initiatives

There is general acceptance of the need for an international honor society to serve systems engineering. The worldwide demand for systems engineers and the increasing number of academic institutions offering systems engineering degree programs makes an honor society for SE essential for continuing progress.

The Omega Alpha Association is an idea whose time has come. The Association was incorporated in the Commonwealth of Virginia USA on July 10, 2006 and the path forward is being guided by a small group of Charter Members.

After more than a year of consideration and evaluation, an initial OAA "Presence in Academia" involving ten academicians at five institutions in four countries was finalized during 2010. Also an Honorary Member for 2010 was designated, bringing this total to five.

An initiative is currently underway to identify and evaluate the possibility of naming a cohort of superb recent Ph.D. recipients to be considered for Associate Membership.

Discussions have also begun regarding the possibility and desirability of establishing a Posthumous SE Honor Roll to remember the giants who provided systems engineering with its early foundation.
